Alaska! by Landrie L

Today we woke up around six forty-five at the church in Palmer and the first thing we did was have some breakfast, which were some bagels and orange juice. The plan for the day was for everyone to go grocery shopping to buy snacks and food for the next couple days and then later on have a pool party. But we had a little change of plans that afternoon. Ishtar decided that we should go on our first hike at the Butte, so we all geared up, took the vans to the mountain and set off. It was a really steep climb and after about an hour and a half we had finally made it to the top of the mountain. The view was beautiful and everyone was so happy they had made it! By the time we got to the bottom everyone was so tired and just ready to go to bed, but we still had so many more activities planned. We drove back to the church and had chili and baked potatoes for dinner then celebrated Mrs. Gary’s birthday with cake and also celebrated Fathers Day. Then we drove over to the pool, and stayed for about two hours, which was really fun. But the part I think everyone was glad about was that we could take showers there. That night everyone was so tired that all we wanted to do was sleep, but first we had hug time, which is where you hug everyone goodnight. Overall, it was a pretty successful day, filled with many exciting events.

The Butte by Laura M

Today we had a very simple morning and then an exciting surprise in the afternoon. We climbed a mountain!! Lauren P says, “I really loved climbing the mountain, it was a very steep hill and rocky at some parts I felt like a mountain goat. Once you got to the top the view was awesome and was totally worth it.” Later on we had a swimming party!! Isabella J says, “My favorite part was watching people dive off the diving boards and being able to swim with everyone.” Lauren adds that she really liked jumping off the high dive. “My favorite part of the day was climbing the rocky parts of the Butte.” Says Mathew S. Christian K says that his favorite part of the day was climbing the Butte and when reaching the top, having fun with friends all knowing that you made it to the top! He also says, “That hug time is the best time of the day.”
