All Day Boat Ride by Lauren P

Today was a very fun and exciting day for all of us! We all got up at 8:00am and got ready to go on all day boat ride in the ocean! We loaded up on the bus at 9:30am and then we were off! For the first three hours in the boat we were split up into small groups and went to these mini classes to learn more about marine biology and the wildlife that lives in that area! After eating lunch we had the rest of the time to look for wildlife! The first animal we saw was a bald eagle sitting in its nest on to of a tree! After that we saw thousands of these cool seagulls and then a small island full of seals! It was so cool!! Then we came upon a little sea otter that decided to put on a little show for us and swim around! But the best was yet to be seen! Finally we saw…..WHALES!!! It was so cool!! I was amazed at how many there were! Every time one would jump out it was like three more would come out! We saw some humpback whales and then some orca (killer) whales. It was so cool how they would jump up so high into the air and then when they hit the water again they would create a huge splash!! But unfortunately the boat ride had to end and not long after that we were back at camp and preparing dinner, which consisted of hamburgers, potato salad, and beans! Yummy!! Finally we got to have phone time again! Shortly after that we went shopping in downtown Seward for a little while. But by 8:30pm we were all back at camp and getting ready for bed. After a long and fun day we were all hugging each other and slipping into our tents.
