Alaska Is

Alaska is the new frontier, an unexplored world waiting for its conqueror. It’s a new mountain that has never been climbed. It’s a whale waiting to be found in the water. It is a group of people driving down the open road, singing their favorite songs. It’s a world of people just like you. Alaska is no big city, it is a grassy, mountainous wilderness. Alaska is the preservation of the last frontier.

Final Reflections

Living in the same breathing space as 74 other people for 3 ½ weeks, you come to learn their behaviors, how they smell when they don’t shower, how they dress, talk and eat. You start off not knowing anyone on a personal note, but you’re forced to become closer. You learn to work as a team, like a brick wall, each brick makes it stronger. You learn different sides of your tent, van and committee members. You learn that some people you’d never expect want to be your friend. In Alaska our 75 person group became an extra large family. We’ve all come to learn each other on a personal level. When I reflect on Alaska I’ll reflect on the fact that I’ve grown as a person and that I’ve grown closer to all of my peers.
