Alaska Is

Alaska is life changing. I know that Alaska has already changed my life just in the twelve days I have been here. From the beautiful mountains with snow on them that you can’t see in Michigan, to animals that you can’t see anywhere else either, like moose, especially a mother and her calf right on the side of the road, caribou grazing on a mountain side, lynx that come to the side of the bus, Dall sheep, once endangered, and even some animals that you can see in Michigan, if rarely, such as grizzly bear or a wolf. Also some things that aren’t animals, such as a museum all about Alaska. I just say that if I was never in Alaska today, my life would never have changed like this to give me a better of life.

Final Reflections

Over the past three weeks that I have been in Alaska and in the AGLP I have learned so much and been so many places in Alaska that will always want me to come back for more. I have also met so many interesting people like Conrad, a local Alaskan that lives in Homer, he knows so much about the plants in Alaska and sea creatures like whales that used to be in Alaska and the whales that are there today. Another interesting person is the owner of Seaside Farms in Homer where we stayed named Mossy and how she grew up that is different from the way she lives today in Alaska. Then last to Ed, a guy that does scrimshaw on walrus teeth and he gets them by trading with native people. Also all the events I did in Alaska for the first time in my life like the Midnight Sun run, that was my first 10k race, and the Midnight Sun Baseball Game. Last my first mountain hike on Mt. Healy. Even getting to know your classmates even more than what you did. In the end Alaska and this trip has changed my life to the best and I will never forget it until I die.
