Today was June 30th 2013, but I called it something different. My 14th birthday. We spent the entire day whale watching. We saw four humpback whales. One whale we saw did not do much but lift its fluke, it was still pretty cool however. The other three whales we saw were much more interesting. They lifted their fins and slapped the water. You could hear every smack. Conrad said that even though the slaps did not sound loud above the water they sounded like gun shots underwater. The whole thing was truly amazing, unfortunately not everyone enjoyed it. About half of the group was seasick. Everyone who was sick was sent to the back of the boat. There was not one time the entire trip where the back of the boat was not crowded. Since we ran out of room in the back several people were sleeping on the seats in side and out on the front of the boat. So unfortunately for those people who slept they missed the whales. The whale watching was long, cold and miserable…….. but it was totally worth it. Being able to see the whales just move around was an amazing experience. Not many people get to see a whale for their birthday. I hope I get to see the whales again.
