Everyone was using inside voices which was really strange. We had been outside for three weeks and now we are in an actual house! Emily’s, Mr. Rosene’s daughter’s, house to be exact. Even though we were inside it didn’t phase most of the guys. We were in the basement of Emily’s house and they were wrestling with each other and kicking soccer balls. This was pretty funny because when Emily came downstairs she started laughing.
The room was filled with constant chatter and the sounds of a radio that we haven’t listened to in three weeks. Emily lived on a lake, so we had one brave soul who jump in. Keep in mind that the snow just melted and it was raining outside; no sun whatsoever. That brave soul was Sydney Sanford. The one thing she said when she came up from the water was “Holy crap that was cold!” She begged people to jump in with her, but nobody followed in her footsteps. It was nice to actually be indoors and to see carpet because we were so used to the grass and dirt. The carpet felt so soft compared to everything else. Everyone was in little circles all throughout the basement talking about how hungry they were even though it was only 4:30PM. It was worse because you could smell the food on the grill. It was constant torture.
After the torture the dinner was finally done! We were eating hot dogs and hamburgers made out of mystery meat. Most people ate the hot dogs but some people didn’t know the hamburgers where a mystery meat so they ate the hamburgers. One of those people were Rachel Schoepke. After her meal she figured out that she had just eaten either moose or caribou. She was not very pleased with her choice of food. We also got dessert which was a lovely strawberry shortcake made by Emily. It was absolutely delicious, one of the best I have ever had!
After dinner we made our way outside to watch the fireworks. It was really weird to watch the fireworks when it was still light outside.
All in all it was nice even though we were all missing our families, at least we were with our new family.
