While in Alaska I have learned how to apply the FISH philosophy to my life along with some more personalized things. Being away from home taught me independence, and the experiences we had taught me to try new things. Also being in my van and tent got me to open up and I have found that I really enjoy the company of those people that I use to not talk to. I am a very quiet, shy person, but Alaska’s taught me that it’s okay to open up from time to time and show my true self. I had so much fun in Alaska, but I also got very homesick and it made my trip harder to enjoy. Luckily I had made several friends who could help me through the rough patches and for that, I’m grateful. Although it’s been a great experience for me, I am definitely ready to go home and see my family again, so I won’t be one of the kids crying on the way to the airport. Good-bye Alaska! We’ve had a good run, but I’m excited to step on Michigan soil again.
