While at Hatcher’s Pass I observed a group of people. They were all laughing and having a great time. I knew I had to complete an interview to receive my Blue Communication and Listening Bead and I thought someone in this group would be a great candidate. I walked over and asked if I could interview any of them and they all gave me a blank, confused stare. I then explained who I was and what AGLP was. They immediately lightened up a bit, however, still hesitant. The older lady with a slight accent told me I should interview her son. I walked over to the handsome, middle-aged man. His name was Seth. He didn’t seem too interested in being questioned but I began the interview anyway. Although Seth resides in Kansas, he is visiting Alaska through a business trip and he was lucky enough to bring his family along. He works for an oil company, Conocophillips, so he is able to travel quite frequently. “Traveling is my favorite thing about my job, and it is even better when I am able to bring my family along too,†Seth told me. Seth has a wife named Sarah and two kids; Eli is four years old and Mary is two. Also along for the ride are his parents from Germany. So far on this trip Seth and his family have enjoyed traveling around Alaska- hiking at Thunderbird Falls, canoeing around Anchorage, and checking out the Mine at Hatcher’s Pass. Seth notes how special it is for him and his family to be in such a beautiful place soaking up the fresh air and enjoying the nature.
