Day 11

Alexandra Egnatuk

Today when we woke up we ate breakfast, pancakes and sausage, then packed up the tents and vans. When everyone was packed and ready to go we piled into the vans and drove up to the front of the campground to take pictures on the front porch. We then took off to head toward Palmer.
During the drive, my van played “Two Truths and a Lie” it was really fun to learn thins about the others in my van that I didn’t know before. A little while later we stopped at Mary Carey’s Lodge to use the restrooms and stretch our legs. When we got back in the vans we drove for about an hour to Talkeetna.
When we got to Talkeetna I went to Mountain High Pizza Pie for lunch; the pizza was really good. We only had an hour before we had to meet back at the pavilion so after about fifty-five minutes I headed there. When I got to the pavilion I was a little early and there weren’t very many people there yet. I went to a little cart-type building and bought homemade chocolate ice cream with Taylor. The ice cream was very rich and sweet which was really good. When we got back to the van we climbed in and pulled out of the parking lot.
As we were driving down the road, we decided to play, instead of “Two Truths and a Lie”, “Two Lies an a Truth.” Again it was fun to learn even more things about the other people in my van that I didn’t know before. When we got to Wasilla, Ishtar had to pick up the mini van because five people were coming today so we dropped him off then continued toward Palmer which was still about ten minutes away.
After dinner we packed into the vans to go to the pool for the pool party and take showers. When we got back to the church after the pool party we set up our sleeping bags in the church basement, which was where we’d be sleeping for the night. When most of us were done with that task, a few of the junior leaders came and told us to go outside for cupcakes because it was Sandy’s birthday. When everyone was done with the cupcakes, Ishtar declared hug time. The went very well and I had a lot of fun in my van and hope I will have more in the future.
