Final Reflections

I believe that Alaska has been a very beneficial experience for me.  I think that I matured a lot while I was there by becoming more independent, patient and even social.
I became more independent by having to do most things for myself such as washing dishes, putting up and taking down our tent, and going to the laundry mat.  Going to the laundry mat made me appreciate having a free washer and dryer at my house.
I also learned to be more patient.  For example, not everyone could climb up the mountain as fast as others, so I had to be patient and wait for them to catch up with the group.
As well as learning patience as we waited, I learned how to connect with my classmates better.  On the trip, I got to know some of my classmates and even the junior leaders.  This was very beneficial for me because if I was feeling homesick, talking to the other participants made me forget about it.
This trip has been a very enlightening experience for me and I am glad that I went.
