The First Day! by Matt C and Jazmin Y

We have finally made it to Alaska!!!!!! Yesterday we traveled all day. We pulled away from the Middle School at around 9:00am. As we looked through the windows and saw all our parents waving and occasionally crying, it officially felt real. We took commercial busses to Chicago. It was a four hour bus ride with only one stop!!! We reached Chicago around 1:00pm. After we checked into the airport we had to go through security and as Isabal Dunn put it, “It was scary and slow with all the people it took a long time.” We had to wait in the airport for about two hours. We had time to go get lunch and most everybody got McDonalds(no surprise). We then had to board the plane at 2:55. As we were boarding the plane Nick Adler was feeling “bored” because he knew that he was going to be on the plane for a long time. After we had boarded the plane we had to sit for about a half hour, because the plane actually departed at 3:25 Chicago time.

As the plane moved into position for take off the excitement rose. Jessica Vorst was feeling anxious and happy as we were waiting for take-off. Izzy  Saville was feeling nervous but with some relief mixed in. the first plane ride was about four and a half hours. David Isaacs felt that the first plane ride was long and more entertaining than the second one. He like the first flight more because everyone was happy and talkative. He didn’t like the second flight because by then everyone was tired and cranky. The second flight was similar to the first but you got to see a lot more things. Cam Foster thought the second plane ride was fun because he got to sleep and have a soda. Cam still thinks the first plane ride was a lot more fun then the second because he got to be near his friends.

We arrived in Anchorage around 10:00pm. That would be 2:00am your time. Arriving in Anchorage was a very big sight to see. All the mountains an open land all around, everywhere you see. When we arrived in Anchorage we had to go grab our bags. As Macey Odell found out sometime things explode before they get to you. Her hair spray exploded inside of her bag.

As we loaded the busses for yet another bus ride, this time we were riding to Palmer, we realized that the sun really never goes down here it’s so weird!!! When we arrived in Palmer we unloaded our bags from the truck into the basement o the church we’re staying in for the next two nights. We all sleep in one big room. It’s like one big sleepover!!!!!! Well that’s just about it folks…I think I’m speaking for all of us when I say that we love and miss all of you!!!!!! See you when we get back!!!
