Today, we climbed Mt. Healy. We got up at eight o’clock, and had a breakfast of scrambled eggs, hardboiled eggs, toast, and sausages. Then, we headed to the mountain. I was in a group with some of my friends: Asher, Josie, and Anneke. We were the third group up.
About a quarter of the way up the mountain was a little clearing with benches that we stopped at and had granola bars and mints. After that, Asher and some of the older people in the group stayed at the back for the rest of the hike. The hike up was mostly uneventful, with a few pretty flowers and lots of steep rocky sections.
When we got to the top, we celebrated and ate our lunches, then took the group picture. Most years, the participants spell out AGLP, but this year, since it is the 25th anniversary, we wrote out 25. Then, we took van pictures and small group pictures, and started our descent.
On the way back down the mountain, I went with the slower group. Soon after we started, one of the people started falling. She didn’t break anything, but she did cut up her elbow. I had a few close calls, but I didn’t fall too much.
The mountain was beautiful, as were the animals and plants we saw. This was some peoples’ first time on a mountain, and they all had fun. I can’t wait for our next hike!
